SAG-AFTRA actor Michael Pierce has been cast as John Goldman in Questioning, an innovative theatrical production directed by Julia Weist and presented by New Theater Hollywood. The production will be filmed during the week of July 6–10, 2026, with public performances running July 10–19 in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles, CA June 10, 2026 –(PR.com)– Based on actual events, Questioning reenacts a 2024 government interrogation of artist Julia Weist after she became a licensed private investigator as part of her artistic practice. During the real-life interview, government officials sought to determine whether artistic inquiry and detective work were fundamentally different pursuits, leading to a thoughtprovoking examination of creativity, observation, authorship, and the value of artistic labor.
Drawing from audio recorded during the original interrogation, the performers lip-sync to the actual dialogue exchanged between Weist and government officials. The production itself will be filmed as an extension of the project, creating a new artistic document that reimagines the event while preserving its essential questions about authorship, observation, and creative practice.
Pierce portrays John Goldman, one of the officials conducting the interrogation. Known for bringing depth and authenticity to authoritative and morally complex characters, Pierce was drawn to the production’s exploration of power, perception, and the blurred lines between investigation and artistic expression.

Directed by Julia Weist and presented by New Theater Hollywood, Questioning transforms a government proceeding into a compelling theatrical experience. Pierce has appeared across stage and screen in feature films, streaming productions, national commercial campaigns, and live theater.
