The asset acquisition for charitable consideration offers new opportunities for a better K-12 school search experience

MIAMI, Oct. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Parents across the country will soon find it easier to discover right-fit schools for their children as Schoolahoop’s technology is aligned with the National School Choice Awareness Foundation’s (NSCAF) broad national reach. NSCAF announced today that it has acquired Schoolahoop’s school-search platform and technology, building on what is already the nation’s most comprehensive English- and Spanish-language education navigation program.

Schoolahoop was founded in 2019 as a project of the Foundation for American Innovation (FAI), an organization co-founded by Garrett Johnson and Aaron Ginn, and was designed to make it easier for families to discover all types of schools—public, private, and nontraditional—for their children. Since then, the platform has expanded to eight states: Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

NSCAF plans to integrate Schoolahoop’s technology into its existing family-facing tools, including its Navigate School Choice (myschoolchoice.com) and Conoce tus Opciones Escolares (opcionesescolares.org) programs, which provide cost-free guides and tools in English and Spanish to millions of families each year. Schoolahoop’s industry-leading technology will make it even easier for families to find schools where their children thrive. As part of the acquisition, members of the Schoolahoop team will work with NSCAF to integrate the platform’s technology across NSCAF’s programs.

“Parents deserve to know every option available to their children, and Schoolahoop has spent years building a tool that makes that possible,” said Andrew Campanella, NSCAF’s chairman and CEO. “Welcoming Schoolahoop into the NSCAF family is one more piece of the puzzle as we work to make sure every family, in every state, has the information they need to choose the right school.”

“I started this project because too many families didn’t know they had a choice beyond the school they were assigned,” said Brandon Detweiler, Schoolahoop’s co-founder and board member. “NSCAF has spent more than a decade helping families discover their education options, and I can’t think of a better home for Schoolahoop’s next chapter.”

The transaction between the 501(c)(3) NSCAF and the 501(c)(3) Schoolahoop, Inc. closed on Oct. 5, 2026. The transaction is an asset acquisition for charitable consideration, not a statutory merger.

The National School Choice Awareness Foundation (NSCAF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. NSCAF and its sister organization, the 501(c)(3) National School Choice Resource Center (NSCRC), raise awareness of K–12 school choice and help families discover and navigate the education options available for their children through three charitable programs: National School Choice Week, Navigate School Choice, and Conoce tus Opciones Escolares. NSCAF does not advocate for or oppose legislation at any level of government and is steadfastly nonpartisan and nonpolitical.

Schoolahoop is a free, nonpartisan school-search and scholarship discovery platform that helps families in Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin discover public, charter, magnet, and private school options for their children alongside ways to pay for them, benefiting 1.1 million children to date.
